| Consult a health care practitioner before taking if you have diabetes. There is limited evidence from preclinical studies that burdock may have hypoglycemic activity. Use by adults and adolescents over 12 years of age with renal failure, heart failure, or both, should be avoided because of possible complications due to hyperkalemia. | ||
| Contraindications: | ||
Do not use if you are allergic to plants of the Asteraceae/Compositae/Daisy family, such as burdock or dandelion, or if you are allergic to stinging nettle. Do not use if you have liver or gall bladder disorders, bowel obstruction, or an active peptic ulcer. Discontinue use if you develop symptoms of liver trouble. Do not use if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Use is not recommended in children under 12 years of age. | ||
| Known adverse reactions : | ||
Hypersensitivity/allergy is known to occur, in which case, discontinue use. In sensitive individuals, mild gastrointestinal upset (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) or allergic reactions (itching, exanthema, hives) may occur from use of stinging nettle. The frequency is not known. Discomfort due to gastric hyperacidity may occur after taking herbs that contain bitter substances like dandelion. | ||
